Project Cordillera: A Fast Growing Travel Startup and Social Enterprise

32 Hour role based in our Medellin, Colombia Office

Project Cordillera, a travel startup and social enterprise, seeks excellent candidates for a Development Officer and Communication Officer role, both based in Medellin, Colombia. The paid internship covers living costs, training, a mentorship and support for academic or independent research. You will be a key part of our team at a key time, and your role will be fast-moving, diverse and full of adventure.

Spreading the enthusiasm and the energy of sustainable adventure travel in Latin America largely through supporting campaigns, digital and media work, the Communications Officer will need to be full of ideas, creative, have excellent writing skills and a knack for artful storytelling.

The Role:
The role will help manage all marketing and communications channels, create engaging content, build brand awareness, manage outreach to other media outlets and highlight new expeditions, projects, and programs. You will also liaise with clients and our partners, and helping to drive innovation that will ease and enhance our custom journey. The role will also go way further and we’re looking for someone ambitious, who can think and do, and who will thrive at the nexus between travel, development, technology, and marketing.  

Sample of the tasks involved:

  • Developing and implementing a robust media/communications strategy
  • Creating digital and social media campaigns
  • Coordinating our blog by writing posts, compiling topics and guest posts
  • Copywriting for the website and other media
  • Managing our regular newsletter
  • Supporting social media
  • Delivering outreach presentations – building our target audience
  • Supporting business and partnership development 
  • Compiling performance statistics and analysis for media campaigns
  • Working with analytics, SEO and associated projects
  • Improving customer journeys
  • Work closely with universities in Latin America and overseas

Our specifications are broad and we are open to a diverse range of candidates. However, the following characteristics, attributes and experiences will be strongly favorable to your application:

  • Experience working in communications, marketing or sales
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of motivation, productivity and self initiative
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Experience using social media, with close attention to detail and quality
  • Basic understanding of key marketing and communications principles
  • Confidence and good presentations skills
  • Digitally native, with an interest in software/technology  
  • Collaboration and a good team player
  • Excitement about communicating the benefits of sustainable travel practices and adventure travel in the Cordilleras
  • Excited to live and work in Colombia

Length: Ideally six months (but open), 32 hours per week

Location: Medellin, Colombia
Remuneration: Living stipend, structured mentorship, training
