Laguna del Otún is a beautiful glacier lake located in the heart of Los Nevados national park.

The trek to Laguna del Otún is a memorable one that will take your breath away. Not only due to the stunning views but also the high altitude you will walk to reach its wide banks.

Furthermore, after walking through the Andes, you will be staying in traditional, local housing. This trip is a real immersion into the Colombian culture and landscape.

The trek will last for four days. You will be engrossed into the stunning biodiversity of Los Nevados. Firstly, you'll transverse the gloomy clouded forest, which then leads you on to the páramos. The páramos is a rapidly evolving ecosystem only found in a few locations worldwide.

Condors are also an unquestionable highlight of this trek. The second-largest bird in the world has a wingspan of up to 10ft and has to be seen to be believed.

You'll sleep under the stars, with your tents pitched alongside the banks of the lank and surrounded by the plant's rare plant life.

Laguna del Otún boasts an impressive depth of 70m. Therefore, it's the perfect spot for a refreshing swim or some trout fishing.

The lake sits at a dizzying 3950m and is fed by the glacier melt of Nevado Santa Isabel (4965m), an active volcano in the prehistoric era. From the lake, you’ll have amazing views of Nevado del Ruiz and Nevado del Tolima.

This trek is an excursion into the heart of Los Nevados national park. We offer a variety of expeditions in the park and it is one of the most beautiful places in Colombia.

Located in the central Colombian Andes, the park covers over 225 sq mi and is a plethora of natural wonders. It features high mountainous landscapes, waterfalls, rainforests, jungles, and high-altitude lakes. Furthermore, plenty of hot springs, which are perfect after a long hike.

The Laguna del Otún trek is the perfect trek for those looking to combine cultural immersion and adventure!
